VILLAFRANCA AND ITS PARTIES
The Candlemas
It takes place with blazes in the streets and with tasting of sardines,
garlic muleteer and crumbs. on February 2.
Holy Week (Easter)
Until the Sunday of Resurrection can observe for the streets of the
village the processions of La Borriquita, El Rescatao and The Virgin of
the Bitterness, The Nazareno and the Dolores's Virgin, The Sepulcher,
The Sacred Christ of the Charity, the Soledad's Virgin and The one
Resuscitated.
The Sunday of Resurrection makes happy the streets crazy bells of glory
for the children that, finished the procession, they share the cakes of
the bakers' Easter gift.
Cruces de Mayo
Around May 3 they take place the crosses of May, consistent tradition in
the placement of crossings carried out starting from flowers in the
streets of the town. The streets and squares are adorned with flowers
being created a festival atmosphere for neighbors and visitors.
La Gran Huevada
May 14 take place La Gran Huevada like eve of the Pilgrimage of San
Isidro. It is without a doubt, the good known party of Villafranca,
always replete of visitors that enjoy those more than 15.000 eggs that
are distributed together with wine of the land. Once satisfied we can
enjoy the performances in the Park of the "Cespedillas" and in the huts
installed for the youngest.
Pilgrimage San Isidro
May 15 the pilgrimage of San Isidro, one of the good known parties of
the town. The pilgrimage goes to The Huertezuela, place located 6
kilometers, there the neighbors meet together with their families and
friends to a good day of field to happen. Of interest the road from the
town to the Huertezuela that lasts some 4 hours and where we can observe
multitude of coaches thrown by oxen and the rosemaries adorned with
gypsy's suits and flamenco, besides a good number of riders.
Santiago and Santa Ana Villafranca of Córdoba
During Santiago's Parties and Santa Ana they are organized diverse
leisure activities. At the end of July (July 25) they settle huts for
the amusement of all the ages, where they will be able to enjoy diverse
performances and the typical attractions of Fair.
Our Mrs. of the Remedies
It takes place environment at September 8. Employer party with novena,
the employer's procession and different recreational activities.
